How Many Bags of Concrete in a Cubic Yard?

There are about 45 bags of 80 lb concrete mix in a cubic yard — or 60 bags of 60 lb mix, or 90 bags of 40 lb mix. In metric, one cubic meter takes about 80 bags of 25 kg mix.

The math: a cubic yard is 27 cubic feet, and an 80 lb bag yields about 0.60 cubic feet of mixed concrete (27 ÷ 0.60 = 45). Yields are printed on every bag and vary slightly by brand, so treat these as close estimates and round up.

At these quantities, compare prices with ready-mix delivery — a full yard mixed by hand is 45 bags of lifting, mixing and timing, and truck-mixed concrete is stronger and more consistent.
